Catching Mistakes

It's nice to catch mistakes before they are sewn together, isn't it?
I took a picture of this quilt yesterday and when I saw it on the blog I realized there was a mistake. One of the blocks was not positioned correctly!
Can you see the block that needs turned? I labeled it for you.

I'm sure glad I saw it before I had sewn it together.

I like to take pictures of works in progress so I can post them here, but also so I can see layout errors before they require a seam ripper to fix them.

  1. This is looking great. I loved seeing this, because This is the pattern I am using for the Violet Monochromatic quilt (Judy again!) And I am wondering. After you cut the Squares on the diagonal and sew together. Did you have to be careful which way you pressed the seam open? This is my waterloo. Usually I wait until I have the blocks on the wall and then try to iron them.. This takes a long time. Thank you!!

  2. Trish, I just pressed them all open and was very careful when putting them together. I pinned more than normal and so far I've not had any problems. I usually don't press my seams open but I realized that it really would reduce the bulk here so I did it. I just finished sewing the body of the quilt together and it all turned out ok. Good luck with yours and I can't wait to see a picture of it.
